Matteo Grassi
I designed this small table for the exhibition “The table: desire, drawing, project,” held in Milan in 1983, where various authors reflected on this piece of furniture so closely related to architecture. Since Matteo Grassi was a prestigious Italian company specializing in leather treatment, I thought of a minimalist table intended for working in the domestic sphere, where leather took on three forms: rigid in the cleats and wheels of the base, padded on the tabletop, and loose and flexible in the side pouches that could hold documents and small desk objects.
