When the Formica company launched the new Color-Core material (a cladding with exposed edges) it called on various designers and architects to create furniture with this material, so as to express its resistant and chromatic qualities. I decided to make the antithesis of our previous shelves, the Hialina and the Hypóstila. Instead of a dominant horizontal composition, it would now be vertical. A bookcase designed especially to hold magazines that, if arranged vertically, warp and deform. To avoid this deformation, narrow compartments are needed, where they fit.

The Talaya had a wide base that receded as it grew, while the height between shelves decreased to accommodate smaller publications. Its width remained fixed so that it could be attached laterally and thus form unlimited panels of shelves based on 35-centimeter modules.

In the first sketches he placed forward lighting at the head of the bookcase, but later the first idea of ​​the Bib Luz emerged, which he would carry out with notable success.
