The manufacturer who originally commissioned me was a master of aluminium casting, which he then treated with an interesting range of dyes and patinas.

Smooth, shiny surfaces are the most difficult to obtain, so their catalogue included all kind of textures and reliefs, but always imitating other materials: bamboo, pith, wicker, wrought iron, etc.

My challenge was to take advantage of the manufacturer's tradition and knowledge, respect their technology and design an object that, while highly textured, did not imitate another material; that could be freely decorated; a sculpture to sit on.

A chair, a small armchair reminiscent of a capercaillie. Cast aluminium is a precious material that reproduces all the subtleties, details and ornaments that we have included in the mould. A special paint, hand-patinated, enhanced these reliefs and offered a satin finish, far from the aggressive shine under sunlight, while making the beautiful base material transparent.

A range of finishes for different uses: all in cast iron for outdoors; in exposed wood or upholstery for indoors."
