The company came up with the idea of launching a limited series of collector's pens to commemorate Sant Jordi's Day.

The version of the popular legend in Catalonia tells that in Montblanc lived a terrible dragon that caused havoc among both beasts and local population. From time to time, to appease it, a person chosen by lottery would be sacrificed to the monster. One day, bad luck fell upon the king's daughter, but she was saved at the last moment by a brave, armed knight who confronted and defeated the dragon. The tradition further adds that from the blood spilled, a rose bush with red flowers grew. Sant Jordi's Day, which is the traditional day of lovers throughout Catalonia, is when people give roses and books to their partners and loved ones. This custom has deep roots; the tradition of gifting a red rose to the beloved woman seems to date back to the 15th century.

The design of this pen, specially created for Sant Jordi's Day, clearly referenced the mortally wounded dragon defeated by Sant Jordi. The blood that spilled from the creature’s body, as well as the ink flowing from its nib, even stained the interior of the box. The rose was engraved on the gold-plated nib.

The Sant Jordi 2009 fountain pen was, indeed, a small commemorative sculpture, yet at the same time, an excellent writing instrument.
