"Evoke" was the motto under which we entered and won the competition for the new sports use of the Docks at Atocha Station. When users visit the center, they don't just enter a technically modern complex; they "evoke" the old shed built for railway purposes and later used as a military depot. The historic building has found a new, more recreational use but, after the renovation, it reminds us of what it once was. Not only did we preserve the façades, but also the interesting iron structure of three central naves. When we removed the interior plaster from the walls, we proposed leaving these surfaces bare, leaving the brick exposed. The result is even more spectacular than expected; we don’t bathe in aseptic competition pools... we do it in Roman baths.
