The degraded backyard of the ancient studio of painter Modest Urgell transformed into a formal cortile that replicates the old façade on the three remaining walls. Behind the back façade, a fountain-pool emerges, surrounded by ivy. The cornice in wide overhang visually encloses the space, isolating it from the tall neighboring walls. A tribute to Lutyens’ work in New Delhi.
