This villa, located in the upper part of Barcelona, was built on a site where an existing house stood. We decided to demolish it because, besides its lack of architectural interest, it was situated in the worst possible location, at the lower end of the plot. The new house sits at the top of the terrain, offering magnificent views of the city and the sea. The treatment of the entire exterior area -which I find the most interesting aspect of the project, including terraces, pergolas, retaining walls, the pool, and vegetation- had to consider the sections of the garden that were to be preserved. Essentially, the challenge was how to incorporate the old trees from a poorly designed garden into a new project. As usual, I had the invaluable collaboration of landscape architect Bet Figueras for this work.
