It was difficult for us to envision a tiny house—intended for Georgina, Oriol Regàs's sister, and located on the same plot as his house—isolated in such a splendid landscape. Typically, little houses with features of grand mansions on a smaller scale tend to be rather kitschy. We saw more potential in taking a different object while preserving its correct dimensions and adapting it to function as a home. We admired the wisdom with which some historical architectures placed small buildings with their own character without masking them in the landscape. Simple geometric and robust forms, found in pavilions, rotundas, and belvederes, were what we could imagine as the best solution. Introducing a functional home within a Palladian belvedere seemed both feasible and capable of creating unique overlaps.
The influence of Robert Venturi's ideas on our architecture during those years is evident, and Charles Jencks defined it as the first postmodern work without a guilty conscience.
To our surprise, the Llofriu council listed it as a cultural asset; however, this protection would have been of little use had the new owners not restored it with exquisite care.
