Lluís Clotet
Bd Barcelona Design
Actually, it is the typical deck chair with a reclining backrest that goes all the way to horizontal, an extension of the Banco Catalano family, outdoor furniture made from plasticized deployé. The name is an irony about the artist Marcel Duchamp, taking advantage of the widespread use of the francophone term “chaise longue” to refer to a deck chair.
Lluís and I were extremely proud of having invented the ingenious mechanism that allowed one to return to the horizontal position without getting up from the deck chair, but in a small window in the attic of the Casa Batlló, we saw one exactly the same.
