Polinax
Lluís Clotet
While working in the Correa-Milá studio, the concern arose to avoid the odors produced in the kitchen. Since we couldn't find any satisfactory device on the market, and without having any design in production, we dared to come up with a smoke extractor hood. Thus, in 1967 - with the essential help of Leopoldo Milá - we created a first prototype for the company Polinax, an impossible invention from the comic strip of Dr. Franz from Copenhagen, with a metal guide attached to the wall that allowed a transparent methacrylate hood to be raised and lowered. The inspiration came from the world of chemical laboratories: glass boxes with an opening to manipulate experiments and with an air extractor.
