The urban planner –who rarely consults the topographical map and even less often walks the terrain– had envisioned a purely rationalist parallelepiped. However, the ground and the slope of the façade street required the building to be staggered. We solved the issue by creating a sloped roof that drains through the ends. The courtyard finishes, elevator machinery, and chimneys are grouped into a single volume, which expresses the building’s spine on the roof. In this spine, the courtyards and access points are chained together.
In the houses, we were concerned with the relationship between entrance hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, and laundry area. Considering the limited space, I believe we solved it in an exemplary manner.
