We dared to do anything. We had the ambition that architecture should promote a kind of libertarian social relationship. By placing apartments with very different layouts in the same building and connecting them through a single access point, we aimed to establish new and innovative neighborhood relationships. This led to a project of overwhelming complexity, a complexity that forced us to draw the floor and ceiling of each floor individually, as they were all different.
Fullà was a transcendent work in our careers. A project, both transcendent and unrepeatable, because even if we preserved the talent and boldness of those distant years, today’s construction regulations, fire evacuation codes, disabled access requirements, the loss of building traditions, and, above all, the decline of the architect's authority, make it completely impossible now. Perhaps this is why Lluis and I gradually drifted away from this much-loved profession.
In 2022, Editorial Tenov published a book, La Casa Fullà (Tot estava per fer i tot era possible), in which, among other interesting texts by key figures, Lluis and I discuss in detail the creation of this intriguing work, which is richly illustrated in the book.
