The exhibition, which had been inaugurated in London before moving to New York and Madrid, showcased the painter's years of learning previous to surrealism. Our installation at the Palau Robert began with a large lateen sail around which the youthful seascapes from Cadaqués were displayed and ended with The Great Masturbator and the arrival of Gala to the painter’s life. Beneath a daunting portrait of the Muse, visitors were required to bow as they left the exhibition.
