Many years ago, on Sant Jordi, the day of the book, a very charming lady asked me to sign a copy of my book. After thanking me for the kind dedication, she told me that what she and her husband truly dreamed of was for me to design a house for them. When I replied that I would be delighted to do so, she mentioned they were already searching for the right plot of land and would call me when they found it.

Years passed, and I had forgotten about the matter, when one day, I received a call informing me that they had found a plot they liked and asked if my offer still stood.

The plot was in Sant Cugat, in a very pleasant residential area, very close to where, almost twenty years earlier with Lluís, we had built the Mozart apartments. The relationship with the Sáez-Rodríguez couple, both Spanish language professors in Cataluña, was a delight. The house ended up furnished with pieces either designed or chosen by me, and they even acquired some of my paintings.

The structure steps down towards the south, creating porches and terraces, but the staircase void, fully glazed and with zenithal lighting, illuminates the common areas from the basement to the second floor. It is the heart of the home.
