The Plaza de la Música in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria was created in front of the western facade (the side facing away from the city) of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium. The main building –housing the Headquarters of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra and the Music School– enclosed the plaza on its southern side and protected it from heavy traffic. The pedestrian plaza covered the large parking area, which is ventilated and illuminated by courtyards that open onto it. The eastern side, adjacent to the auditorium, houses various services related to it.  

The Philharmonic Headquarters is arranged over two semi-buried floors relative to the roadway behind it. The double-height communal space, which provides access to all the classrooms, opens onto the Plaza de la Música. The classrooms are illuminated by the various gardened courtyards located along the rear facade. The audition room completes the complex at the end adjoining the auditorium, providing independent access to the teaching and rehearsal spaces.
