Driade
My intention was to design a dining table that could achieve the following:
- Extend a lot (from 1.50 to 2.80 meters).
- Store the extension panels within the table itself.
- Maintain the same tabletop height in both the folded and unfolded positions.
- A placement of the supports that could offer absolute freedom for seating arrangements (the legs are placed at the corners or sufficiently retreated in the center).
- A profile with curved sides to allow communication among diners at such a long table (I didn’t know of any extendable table that met this requirement).
- Simple, silent mechanisms requiring no maintenance (only traditional hinges and wooden slides, like those of any drawer)
