From a solid base rises a stem that supports, like a flower, the ashtray.
Although I hardly smoke, I do not relentlessly persecute smokers; yet I understand that their smouldering remains in ashtrays can be bothersome. For this reason, I designed an ashtray in which one should not attempt to extinguish the cigarette by crushing it (an unreliable method), but rather drop it, still lit and gently, through an opening (a foolproof method). The ashes and cigarette ends would be extinguished by lack of oxygen, producing no smoke and sparing the viewer their unpleasant sight.
When the shaft was full, the cigarette butts were removed from the bottom end.
A utensil intended to promote tolerance between smokers and non-smokers by making this activity less unpleasant.
