Ritzenhoff
This friendly German production company commissioned an international group of artists to decorate a beer glass and a Schnapps glass. The extensive information sent to the designers included the history of beer, explaining the Egyptian origin of this drink, and that Cleopatra, bankrupt, created the first tax on alcohol known.
As usual in my always figurative work, I decided to use this motif for the decoration of my glass: two Ptolemaic pharaohs toasting for the new tax; when the glass is turned, the glasses collide.
In 1999, I was commissioned to make a piece for the Champus collection of champagne glasses that were to allude to the party. I thought of music.
