How fantastic was it to design in wood after having worked so many times with tubes or metal profiles. I could modify the thickness and give each section just the material it needed for statics and aesthetics. Leaving the beautiful ashwood texture visible made each piece different, a diversity that was accentuated by the irregularities and folds of the leather of its seat.
The chair began to take on a form reminiscent of Antoni Gaudí and the Italian designer from the '50s, Carlo Mollino. For that reason, and before others could point it out, we decided to name it Gaulino.
The series originated as a set of chairs and tables for Carlos Jané. When BD inherited it, for many years only the armchair was produced but, in 2022, the new management decided to review and recover the complete collection.
