Stage design for Arthur Miller's play.
Directed by Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente and starring José Sacristán, this classic of contemporary theatre and cinema has been tackled by the most prestigious set designers and also by various architects. Its main challenge lies in the flashbacks, which suddenly change the narrative situation. I opted to represent the two floors of the house with maximum simplicity, which gradually transformed through a play of backdrops and transparencies created with different types of lighting. Behind the tulle backdrop, a cozy wooded area transformed into a crowded array of concrete blocks. Sacristán praised the production because it did not constrain the actor's performance and allowed him to almost forget about the material presence surrounding him.
