The dignified ground floor of this neoclassical building had been completely disfigured, both inside and on the facade. We removed the cladding and restored the facade, aiming to dignify the splendid interior while respecting its use as a travel agency, not a store. This use recommended creating a filter between the street and the agency's workspace, which we achieved by introducing a play of mirrors that allowed us to see the broken, orthodox interior, as in a cubist image.

We liked that the openings in the mezzanine allowed us to see a dark blue interior, like all the surfaces between white columns in the double-height space, but such dark rooms seemed sad to us. Therefore, we temporarily placed a powerful light at eye level in the center of the entrance door and traced the shadows projected on the walls of the mezzanine rooms. We painted the illuminated parts blue, and the shaded parts white.

To stand out the agency on the street, we installed illuminated canopies that, starting from a virtual center, crossed through the facade’s glass windows. They were strings of lightbulbs that, thanks to a programmed lighting system, suggested a movement towards the outside. A piece of 42nd Street in New York, in the Eixample. Imaginary travels.
