Moments. Exhibition in Artur Ramon’s gallery

An exhibition was held at Artur Ramon’s gallery in Barcelona from December 3 to January 23 of Oscar Tusquets Blanca’s paintings. Despite being better known as an architect, designer and writer, he has been painting for more than half a century. This was the first time he had exhibited his paintings and offered them for sale.

    His new oil paintings, painted over the last two years, depict women, landscapes and still lifes drawn from his daily life. Eduardo Mendoza wrote the text for the elegantly produced catalogue Momentos de serena belleza (Moments of serene beauty).

Lluís Clotet and Ignacio Aparicio awarded the 2009 Decada Prize

The 2009 Decada Prize award ceremony for works completed in 1999 was held on Thursday 30 April at the COAC. Lluís Clotet and Ignacio Paricio’s library for the Pompeu i Fabra University was selected as the winner from fifteen finalists.

    The juror this year, the architect Alessandro Mendini, was impressed by the spectacular transformation of the Ciutadella reservoir into a secluded place for study.

Salone di Milano 2009

On 21 April, at the Driade pavilion at the Salone di Milano, there was a  “A walk into Design” in which Oscar Tusquets Blanca presented his new furniture for the company.

Sant Jordi pen for IXC Barcelona

IXC Barcelona is the new company and brand name of the long-established company Inoxcrom, manufacturer of articles for writing. In its new persona it has embarked on a collaboration project with Bd Barcelona design to develop a collection of exclusive pens, produced in limited editions and signed by distinguished professionals associated with Barcelona.

    They will be presented every year on the occasion of the celebrations in Catalonia of Saint George’s day, 23 April, known also as the day of roses and books. Oscar Tusquets Blanca has been selected to inaugurate this collection with a pen inspired in the legend of Saint George, which takes form as the body of the dragon against which, so says the legend, he fought. 2009 pens have been made in a numbered edition.
