APCE Prize 2008

The Gran Parque O’Donnell residential complex, for the Diursa Group, was awarded the 2008 Prize for the Best Social Housing by the Association of Promoters and Constructors of Spain (APCE).

    The residential complex consists of 266 social houses by the architect Oscar Tusquets Blanca.

Albert Pineda awarded the 2008Decada Prize for the Mercat de la Concepció

On 6 October the award ceremony was at last held at the COAC for the 9th Decada Prize. The architect Kazuyo Sejima this year’s juror, awarded the prize to Albert de Pineda for the Mercat de la Concepció, drawing attention to the way in which the beautiful original building has been renovated with care and respect and in a way that enables it to breath and have a powerful presence within the modern city.

Architectures for Music at the Palau

Architects, stage designers and musicians mark the Centenary of Domènech i Montaner’s building in symposium discussions organized jointly by the Fundació Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música and Mercedes Soler-Lluró Architecturas para la Música, about the architecture of the Palau, about the auditoria in the Mediterranean and throughout world, and about the common universal scale in musical notation and in architectural imagination.

25th years of the Varius chair

On Thursday 3 April an exhibition of 25 portraits of friends posing with the Varius chair was held at the Sala Vinçon to mark its 25th year and to launch the new Minivarius.
