VIPs’ Area Iberia, 1992

Project Coordinator: Carles Díaz

Interiors: Eduardo Egozcue

Area: 400 m2

When Ricardo Bofill built the new airport he recommended that OTB design Iberia's VIP lounge. With his first-hand experience of such "luxury" lounges, he set out to design a relaxing space which would be suitable for everything that its users might want to do: read, work, make telephone calls, have a snooze and so on. He broke with the stereotyped design of such lounges - usually garish and pretentious.

All the elements were expressly designed by OTB, including the furnishings and even the carpet, which was made by Vorwerk. The area is divided into a number of different zones which, although not closed off from each other, provide different levels of seclusion in accordance with their intended use; there is a television area, high tables, low tables with sofas, cocktail bars, intercommunicated areas, and personal work modules where computers can be used.
